Joan Hughes
Applied eLearning Project

Introduction
For many years I have worked in the further education and training sector as both a facilitator & education consultant with both CDETB and DSP funded projects and I have shown myself to have the knowledge, skills and competencies to manage/deliver their programmes successfully.
While observing the current developments in the area of elearning I have found that it has given me an appetitie to develop new skills in this area and therefore I choose to apply for the MSc in Applied eLearning in DIT. These new skills will assist me in enhancing my current training delivery and allow me to develop elearning tools for use by both learners and facilitators.
My research is in the area of educating young adults in the safe use of the internet with particular emphasis on social networking as this training will equip young adults with the tools to make more valid decision when posting any content online. In recent years our digital footprints have become even more prominent with the development of Web 2.0 and mobile technologies by where users no longer passively view content, but instead can now generate their own content. In this research article I will present the findings of the study which was conducted to determine the knowledge that young adults possess about the impact of their digital footprint.
